A premise on evil.

I have many spiritual experiences over the years, many good some bad. The good ones are too many to count and they may be touched upon in later posts, as they relate directly to my own personal spiritual beliefs and the various things which form my worldview. 

The 'not so good' ones are what I will touch upon sooner, not because I want to give glory to evil or darkness but because I want to expose what it's true nature is, what it's goal is and how one is to overcome it - and to show it can be overcome.

Horror movies are not usually movies I am into, for various reasons. The first reason being, I don't really like to concentrate or glorify evil. Horror movies may give some a ‘thrill’ or the excitement for a late pyjama party but if anyone has ever been in the presence of evil it is not something fun, it is the furthest thing from fun there is! Secondly evil by its nature is dark, grotesque, horrible, cunning, cold, heartless and above all deceptive; there is no truth in it. It is by its very nature unreliable in everything it conveys because it is entirely deceptive in nature. It lies, it cloak, it hides, and it seeks to warp truth and goodness at every opportunity because at its core it is the very antithesis of good, of right, of love.

Evil is also extremely boastful, proud and arrogant, this is seen in all movie 'bad guys', and every sinister foe of any great tale, follow this back up the chain of command and you will see the antithesis of this - the devil himself. Relating it back to the real world if you look at all the despotic leaders and rulers over the years you will see this vein of evil is in all of them; pride, arrogance and cruelty.

Now what horror movies tend to do is show the great 'power of evil'… It is almost a total power in some movies. There are countless scenes of people calling on ‘higher powers’ typically shakily holding onto a cross or some other relic and whimpering out hopeful prayers only to get whipped across the room like a rag doll. Individuals scream for mercy at the hands of some unearthly Demonic creature to get none. Usually by the climax of the movie some esoteric book or magic is found that manages to subdue the evil, or it is finally overcome (to some degree) by a priest performing an exorcism ritual, but usually only just. So powerful is the evil that it is usually only quelled temporarily, put in some magical box, or is finally just managed to be exorcised only to drift off leaving the viewer with the uneasy impression that it may soon be back… This time in part II no doubt.

I don't believe evil is all powerful, mainly because I have encountered a greater power - Love. Evil does have a power I believe, it has the ability to cause massive destruction, the wiping out of entire races of people, the ability to create serial killers, murderers the list goes on and on.

Evil a lot of the time though is played out by human beings. Most of the evil we see around us is in the world in induced and harboured by humanity. We are the 'conduit' so to speak for this horrible force. We as humans have immense power, we have the ability to either cause peace, freedom and liberty to be spread over all the earth and on the same token we have the ability to spread the exact opposite of this, this is done by nothing more than the greatest gift we have… our free will.

It is debatable but most people will agree that humanity isn't inherently evil to its core, corrupt, messed-up, fallen or skewed maybe but not evil in essence. So logically there must be some realm or sphere where this evil comes from, and this evil (and humanities openness to it) is what causes humans to behave deplorably to one another, to hate, to cause pain and suffering on their fellow man. I believe that our free will is the gateway or ‘portal’ by which evil is made manifest in the world - evil is made apparent through us. It is also the gateway in which love, freedom and kindness can enter our world also, but in either case it all boils down to our free will (what we allow ourselves to think about, concentrate on, feel and subsequently act upon).

In saying this, evil and darkness does have the strange ability to manifest itself in reality without our cooperation or 'want' at times. Since time immemorial, ghostly apparitions, dark presences and evil spirits have been experienced by all cultures, creeds, races and countries across the globe, past and present - with no exception. No matter how 'technologically advanced' or 'educated' a country or region of the world is these occurrences have taken place and continue to do so - even in our post-modern westernised societies that for the most part shy away from the spiritual aspects of life. It only takes a bit of digging to find out how real and common these experiences are. You would be surprised even within your own circle of friends and family how much so. People seem to sweep these kinds of things under the rug for fear of ridicule from others or to avoid the stigma of mental instability. But for those who have experienced them, they are no figment of the imagination, they are very real.

Sometimes though we are unwilling participants in a spiritual drama we may be totally unaware of, like walking through a haunted house with no idea or involvement with what has actually taken place there, but regardless we feel the strangeness of these presences, we get the heebie-jeebies, shivers up the spine and other ethereal feelings. But we walk through the hospital, the cellar (wherever it may be) and the feeling leaves no sooner than we do. Chances are whatever has taken place there in the past has been something dark, something sinister and it is those actions and occurrences that were the doorways for the strangeness and the darkness to enter and all those actions were carried out or acted by humans.

Whether we like to admit it or not, we as individuals are 'the doors' to these manifestations and what we chose to do, to not do, to think or not to think are what gives evil and darkness the ability and power and even the right and grounding to be made manifest in this world.

Some testimonies of people I know personally will be shared here and will give you some examples of how these doors have been opened, and also how these were closed. And the reassuring thing is that the ability to close these doorways and overcome a tangible evil is much simpler than you might have previously believed. There may be a struggle, as evil always wants to dominate, destroy and cause pain but victory is possible because there is a greater power and that is one of love. Love is stronger even than the power of death and will always have the last word... even though horror movies would have you believe differently.

And remember, evil is not the opposite of good, evil is the absence of love.

From Darkness to Light.

"It all started when I was about 17 in the year 1997..."

I used to spend every weeknight at home on my old PC, dialling into bulletin boards (bulletin boards were a pre-internet way of chatting to people, sharing files, games, email etc. all text-based and free). From time to time people would come along in the chat rooms and one day a girl called Jess* (not her real name) came along.

I have always been open in my conversations and will pretty much talk about anything that's not perverted, wrong, too dodgy etc. Jess was regularly on the bulletin boards late at night and we started chatting quite a bit. Over time the conversations changed to the fact she was a bit of a spiritualist. Having a curiosity in spiritual things our conversations delved down this path. I cannot recall the exact conversations we had but it went down the path of discovering I had a guardian angel called ‘Elizabeth’ who would help me with these (occult-related) things. She would also let her so called guardian angels take over her hands and type. Through this I would talk to her guardian angels regularly although I cannot recall what they said, it was not all that interesting from memory.

Around the same time I began to dabble in cards / fortune telling. I used to force my neighbour to do readings (he was a Christian, and a few years younger than me) and he would say. “No, no, it doesn't feel right! It’s not right…” but I was all like, “Nah, nah, it’s all good come on...” I found a book on the occult that my mum gave to my Nana when I was quite a few years younger. It was from a regular book store. It wasn't labelled as a book of the occult but that's what it was, fortune telling arts and all that type of thing. I had also obtained some documents from bulletin boards text books sections on astral travel and the like. So I used that book to do readings and dabble in fortune telling techniques.

At one time I did try to astral travel. I had to visualise things with my eyes closed in order, and say things I can’t remember and the one time I tried it, it felt as if I was being pulled out of my own body and started to fall backwards, (if you could imagine sitting on the edge of a roof with your eyes closed and someone pushing you backwards off the roof, that's the feeling I got) but instead of continuing I backed right off and opened my eyes with a spinning head and felt sick. I never tried it again - even though Jess told me to do it again and just go with it, I just needed to push past that point. It didn't feel right so I never tried it again.

I never did astral travel but I did perform remote viewing, really without trying it just started one day. I could tell you about items in a room I had never been in before! It started by chatting on the bulletin boards to Jess, she was looking for a container for something and I closed my eyes and could see in her room, I could see a white ice cream container on a drawer in my mind so I just said, 'Use the ice cream container on the drawer’, she freaked out and said, “Oh my gosh, there is one there!” I then realised I was able to see things remotely! She said she could do it too so as a test I asked her what colour underwear I was wearing and she got it right. I did the same with a few other things and she got them right too.

When I remotely viewed I would close my eyes and I could see places/areas as though I was looking through thick fog. Sometimes it was foggier than other times but it was never clear like you would see in say a photo. It was always just images as well, not an astral travel/moving type thing. I also remember that you couldn't just look at any place at any time like follow someone around for example.

This is where it went from ‘Wow!’ to ‘Oh crap, what have I done?!’ 

"It started at night, in the early hours of the morning around 2:30am..."

The first time I woke up with the feeling of a 'presence' in the room, I had this unnatural sense of fear going over my body, fear so powerful it was paralysing. Whether or not it was the fear itself that was paralysing or the forces of the entity doing this I am not sure. I opened my eyes briefly but dared not to look around, I just closed my eyes and thought, 'Go away, go away, go away...' I did not like or accept the feeling, it was as if this force or whatever it was had paralysed me in attempt to take control of my body, as if the paralysis was the middle ground between myself controlling my body and this force doing so. So after some time, I think about 10 minutes or so, I regained control and jumped up to attack whatever was in my room, there was nothing. I turned every light on I could find and powered up my computer to see if Jess was online. She was not, so I pretty much didn't go back to sleep that night, just pottered around on the computer, wondering what the hell had happened. I remember as soon as it was day break I fell asleep and slept all morning.

"A few nights later, the same thing happened again…"

I eventually got hold of Jess and she did her ‘thing’ with communicating with the spirits and whatever and told me there was a’ visitor’ from across the road that was visiting and causing trouble. She said my guardian angel could help me etc. but nothing worked, the experiences came back every few days.

It was not until I mentioned my experiences to a friend that things took a turn. ‘Dude! That sounds like some sort of spiritual attack' I still recall him saying after explaining to him what I was experiencing. 'Tell it to leave in the name of Jesus if it happens again' he told me - Best line ever. I was open to the idea of Jesus and God but didn't give it allot of thought prior to this time.

So, surely enough, the sleep paralysis happened again a few nights later. This time I opened my eyes and looked to the left, only to see a short wide entity, about 1.5 meters high and a meter wide with dark red eyes glaring at me. I only saw it for a split second but its eyes were like a dark vortex/black hole that felt like I would be drawn into if I looked into them for more than an instant. It was as black as the room was dark so I saw no other detail. I quickly closed my eyes and though "oh crap, oh crap!" then I remembered to try and use Jesus name. So the first word I attempted to say was Jesus but it came out as 'J!....' as something instantly grabbed my throat stopping me from talking! I just said it over and over again in my mind, 'Jesus help me, Jesus help me!..' eventually the force once again left. I thought to myself after, why did this force try to stop me from saying Jesus name? There’s got to be something in that. So I came out of the night with a glimmer of hope for the first time in a few weeks.

About a week later the entity had another crack at paralysing me. As soon as I was aware of what was going on I said, 'In Jesus name, leave!' and bang, the experience stopped dead. The presence had gone and my body was back under my control. Wow I thought, I need to look into this Jesus some more. So I borrowed as many books and video tapes as my Christian friend would allow.

The entity had a few more cracks at me although less often. It started to become more cunning, trying to paralyse me while I was still awake. With what I know now, I think it was trying a last ditch effort to get control of me. It would start at my feet and work its way up my body. I would say, ‘In Jesus’ name, be silent and leave’, and so it would. About a month later I decided to become a Christian and followed the prayer prompts to be born again from the end of a video by a preacher named Barry Smith (He invited people watching at home to join in the salvation prayer).

After this time, the entity stopped trying altogether. I did have a different entity have a crack a few years later when I had moved out of home in a new house, I simply prayed it away in Jesus name and walked around the house claiming it as Gods turf and anointed with oil, the door and window sills (drawing a small cross in oil). Nothing else happened at this house for the time I was there.

At this point, I had come to understand that what I was dabbling in was the occult and was pretty much the source of the bad entities. I threw away or destroyed what occult related objects I had and turned from it all right away. During this time I searched the bulletin boards for sleep paralysis and found nothing and no reference of people having these kinds of experiences so I did not think much more of it.

A few years later around 2003 when I finally had the Internet, I did a random search again and found a few pages of people having these experiences – only they were claiming to be abducted by ‘aliens’! I just scoffed and thought to myself, ‘Yea, more like Demons.’ I think I sent the website an email saying I don’t think those are aliens, and said I have had the same kinds of experiences and I used Jesus’ name to avail but I never heard anything back. I guess when someone has a particular agenda they don’t want to hear conflicting stories.

Fast forward years later to now and my interest was rekindled by what has become common and easy to find on the internet and youtube! A guy from my work showed me a UFO disclosure video from some Canadian official and I proceeded to tell him my view on the current Alien and abduction phenomena – that I believe they are Demons and not aliens, as their behaviour is demon-like (read the abduction stories – weird stuff usually involving strange sexual events) there are also UFO’s mentioned in the bible (just Google UFO in bible for examples), people have also cast UFO’s away in the name of Jesus.

People who have conversed with these ‘aliens’ say the aliens often bring forth strange new age teachings that always seek to undermine the teachings of Christ and seriously, what is up with their general behaviour? Visiting people at night (I mentioned this in my experience) taking them away - most often against their wills, to have perform horrific experiments performed on them which cause all sorts of psychological problems, often for their entire lives.

Most times the abduction experience begins by sleep paralysis, an entity in the room - the person talks to entity - entity takes them up into the ship. People a lot of the time recall being able to still see their own bodies in their bed – this obviously accounts for how people have these abduction experiences but their spouse etc. claim they have never left the room. This clearly points to the fact that it is a spiritual happening like an out of body experience – where a person’s conscious spirit or soul leaves their physical body.

And just out of interest sake, if you were an alien from another universe, why would you fly to another planet light years away just to buzz people and put on a show? Why would you not just land and say ‘Hey, hi there!’ The more you look into it, the more demon-like aliens actually become.

My friend at work pretty much disregarded what I said (he is an atheist) so mention the name Jesus or God and he shuts down, just like more and more people I meet it seems. I am sure this is at least partially influenced by demons messing with people’s thoughts. Why do so many atheists shut down when talking about Christ / God but everything else goes?

So anyhow, I have come to realise that this experience I had seems to be becoming more and more common and is usually triggered by people dabbling in the occult or their parents or grandparents dabbling in the occult. It is my hope that this may reach people caught up in the deceptive web the devil weaves and offer some hope and instruction to escape ocultic/abduction experiences/spiritual bondage. My best recommendation to someone in such a circumstance: Do not underestimate the power of Jesus. Follow how Jesus dealt with spirits in the bible – by commanding them to be silent and leave. I have had to pull this a few times over the years – some stories for another day!

Some significant things that came from these experiences:

The power of Jesus' name. This spirit fled with the mention of his name.

I was not 'saved' or ‘born again’ the first few times I spoke to the spirits to leave in Jesus name. I have since heard of people discussing whether or not the unsaved (people who are non-Christian) can call on the name of Jesus, I guess you can! Although I do note that before I was saved, the experiences continued to be attempted although less frequently.

I could now discern spirits in a place although this has diminished over the years. I also received  mental images from God for a while when praying over people and asking God to show me things for this person. This too has diminished, probably due in part to lack of use.
